Hi I have just fitted new disks and princess 4 pots to the front end and new calipers to the rear of my 2.8i does anyone have any tips or advice to ensure they work properly. They have been fully bled (after lots of effort), however they are still spongy with a long foot pedal stroke. Any ideas folks please, cheers. Safety Steve

Princess four pot calipers up front are a standard up-grade on any Capri which work well over the standard set up. You say in your message above that you've also fitted new calipers to the rear?......You've done away with the old drum set up then??

If that's correct, you should have a brake bias valve / lever inside the car so you can adjust the amount of pressure between front and back........i.e, more on the front!

When bleeding the braking system always start with bleeding the furthest wheel away from the master cylinder, then the next furthest away and so on.........Never let the master cylinder run dry, if you do, you'll need to start over again.

Fitting stainless flexi brake lines instead of the standard rubber ones can help give you a firmer peddle.

Hope this is of some help?......Let us know and good luck.

:) :)

Thanks Kevin
I have had a suggestion to try a pressure bleed through Kwikfit??? I have not done away with the rear drums (yet) but will uprate the brake lines to s/s.

Thanks very much for your advice

I will get over to one of the meets some time, a bit difficult att the moment as I work in Cumbria

Cheers
Steve

Pressure bleed, yep, that's the way to go if you can find a willing garage to do it.

Burton's sell a one man pressure bleed kit for just over £20.

Cheers,
Kev.
