Cor i wish i was mine. Thinking about how much work goes into prepping, stripping, filling, etc £10k probably isn't a bad price because if i took mine to somewhere for a ground up restoration it'd cost a lt more than 10K - more on £20-25k i'd imagine.

No way Burt, opinions on other forums, & my personal opinion, says no Capri is worth that much, no matter how pristine it looks. A proper, ground up resto surely cannot cost more than £10-12k. I could be wrong though...

Wayyyyyyyyyyy ! But it all depends on the level of restoration involved i suppose. There was a blue one i have a picture of somewhere of a lovely 2.8is and his bill was £18K for restoring it, and that was 5 years ago. A very popular company quoted me £4500 for spraying the car and that's based on it needing absolutely no bodywork whatsoever, removing the glass, trim, removing doors and boot - with that well who knows. Burton Power quoted me an estimated guide line of £2500 with unleaded heads for a minor engine rebuild (better off buying a replacement engine) and that's without all the rest of the resto work - hence why i'm having a stab at it myself. There was a rs 2.6 up for sale at £30k on another website - the rs 3.1's regularaly fetch around £12-15K as do exceptional 280's. God i wish my effing car was running.

True, but that's why you, and me to some extent - are doing the DIY work first before it goes to pros. 90% of the cost is prep work so if you can prep everything beforehand it really helps. Plus there is a good sense of achievement once you've done it
